On June 28, the Cascade Hotel was officially inaugurated. All the special guests enjoyed the special atmosphere that can be felt in the Cascade Hotel, on the peninsula Ponta da Piedade, and experienced something of the “Cascade Lifestyle”.
Swiss Hotelier Urs Wild, Director of Cascade Resort, with Dr. Júlio Barroso – President of the Lagos Municipal Council and the Swiss Ambassador in Portugal, Dr. Rudolf Schaller unveiled the inauguration plaque. Former Swedish champion tennis player Stefan Edberg was also in attendance due to his involvement with the Cascade Sports Academies.
Mr. Wild spoke of how he fell in love with Lagos 20 years ago and of his dream to build an exceptional hotel and Resort, there.
Some 12 years and 100 million Euros later, his dream has become a reality, but not without overcoming many obstacles met along the way. He is confident of the success of this new venture and of the positive effect it will have to the reputation and attraction to the Lagos area.
This was the view shared by the Mayor who stressed the benefit of the development to the local area socially and economically and in terms of the maintenance of public space and environmental preservation.
Lisbon-based Swiss Ambassador, Rudolf Schaller promised to bring the existence of Cascade to the attention of the newly inaugurated government of Portugal, especially the minister of tourism as an example of the excellence achieved with this development. Stefan Edberg highlighted the individuality of the project with its emphasis on sport.

Just one of the reasons it is perfect for outdoor activities like hiking, biking, jogging, etc.
